Keep the app running in the background

This is especially useful for "Auto-play" mode, to keep the app running through the whole session, while keeping the screen turned off.
Ideally, it would also display a notification with what is the current exercise, maybe even with the timer in the notification, but that's optional. If we manage to make the notification work, would it be a way to have basic interactions while using a connected watch? Research needed.

Countdown not working with locked phone
zz Orlik
Hi, i noticed today that counting time doesn't work properly when i lock my phone during pre-exercises countdown. Sometimes the app makes the sound to start given exercise, but want make a sound when the given time passed. Sometimes it doesn't even make the first sound.
I'm using huawei p30 lite

Hey zz Orlik , right now the session can only run by itself if the screen is one and Calistree is in the foreground. If the phone is locked, then functionality will be limited. It's something pretty complicated, that we'll work on at a later date.

Comment left by another user on reddit: "Could this work where on lock screen you have media player showing (on android anyway) If the app can make use of this you could have the timer running , show exercise and rep number and next exercise in an app styled box"

Louis Deveseleer thats a brilliant suggestion. I don’t know if it’s achievable but it’s brilliant.

I think that in the early stages of this feature simply receiving a notification every time a countdown is over would be enough. In example - phone is locked in your pocket, you have your phones on and you get a “ding” when exercise timer is over. Then another “ding” when the rest timer is over. And then another “ding” when the next exercise timer is over and so on.
