Journeys Sorting Options and Search

I think it looks very good and I have been reading up on the sorting. I am proposing based on my logic so feel free to have a say on it.
Since we have the top appearing based on when its due or its schedule, would it not be of benefit to srt the others by closest to next session, so the sooner your routine the higher up the list it goes, as would assume most immediate adjustments will be to the current or upcoming routine. I know it doesn;t cover all aspects but for quick and convenient for those that as closed to being needed.

John Mellowyingmarshmellow If you are thinking of the sorting of the full list of Routines (which will be available through the "My Routines" button at the bottom of the home page), it's still sorted the same as in the current version, which is by last edited. The thinking is that if you just created/updated a routine, you're likely to want to use it or schedule it, so it goes near the top. Routines that haven't been touched in a while go to the bottom. I feel like that's a good default sorting, but sorting by next scheduled like you're suggesting sounds good as well, maybe as an option?

Louis Deveseleer I second that. Options might be useful.

Louis Deveseleer I don't disagree with your thinking, it makes sense to me. If it's possible for options between the 2 then you can toggle to get to either your next or last updated. I like both as they work on principles of action and those are the sort of actions you would want in a rush, so makes it logical options.

We started working on a better organization of the home page. Only routines that are active for the selected time period (week or month) are displayed on the page, to keep the focus on what matters. Color-coded routines and extended Reminders to facilitate organization. No tagging for now. If you see this please let us know what you think :-)

Louis Deveseleer looks great! To make sure I get it right, the my routines is the archived routines? Clicking it shows all the routines and the excess to them? Any routines that don’t have a schedule planned is automatically archived? (If the latter is correct, then this specific thing is not the best for my daily use.) Edit: is there a manual option for archiving routines or is it an automatic feature?
Louis Deveseleer
Pini The Routines appearing in the home page are the ones scheduled for the Week/Month selected in the calendar (default is current week). There is no archiving action: Routines appear automatically in the home page when their time has come (or when navigating the calendar).
If you want to work on a Routine that is not shown there, you can click on "Edit schedule" and select it from the list to add it to today, or make it active for any day within a time period (to keep things flexible and no day-specific), which will make it appear on the home page.
Attaching some gifs. What do you think?

Louis Deveseleer it looks good but to really know what I think I’ll need to test it. :) I see the directions you are going to and it seems to be a great upgrade. The why I use some of my routines is a bit different than what I assume the majority of the users use them, so this might make me change a few things in the way I use them. But for the general users and for the routines I use as intended this update seems pretty great. I’ll see after I’ll try it, it might make things much better for me as well in the “differently used” routines as well. :)

When I read: "add sorting", what I really hear is: "Things are messy, we need more order". Currently, they default to sorting by last updated. We could add other sorting options, but I don't know if that will be sufficient.
Here are some ideas to create more order in the Journeys:
- Journeys become "Routines", which contain one or several programs (splits). That way, programs that are meant to be done as splits are grouped together.
- Archive non-active journeys, to get them out of the way.
- Tag journeys and filter/sort by tag (does that align with your idea of categorization Hubert Kowalski?)
I don't have a clear vision for where to take Journeys, so please share your ideas and use cases to brainstorm together :-)

Louis Deveseleer first I’d like to acknowledge what you really hear. I guess you are right and this is part of it. :-)
I like the “Routines” option because this is how I use journeys. I use them for splits for my main workouts and then also, same as Hubert, for p/rehab routine, specific training routine, etc. (For example, I have a journey for knee health based on knee over toes guy, a journey for shoulder health based on Rockwood Shoulder Protocol, a journey for daily hands and resting squats, etc.).
I like all the other things you suggested too. I understand where journeys came from. We do have “journeys” in calisthenics, a journey towards a goal of HSPU, etc… and this is very nice to have. The question is if journeys are different than routines.
One way or another, you are right, we need it to have a better order. :-)

Louis Deveseleer I like all 3 ideas :)
- routines with programs sound great - that's how I'd normally use that: I'd have callisthenics routine with day or skill split.
- archiving journeys withoud removing them completely (and being able to bring them back) sounds good, like for example my "pre-karate-exam program" that runs for 6 weeks twice a year ;)
- tagging sounds great

Louis Deveseleer is the archive non-active journeys is still a planned feature? If yes, do you know roughly when? And also, will archived journey still count towards the journeys limit? (Also the other two suggestions of yours, do you still thinking about doing them?)
Louis Deveseleer
Pini Yeah I was actually thinking about all this last week. I still want to do them, but if we're gonna make improvements to the workout page, I'd like to also make other improvements and this will become a large overhaul, of which I still don't have a clear picture, so I've been prioritizing other tasks where the benefit and scope are more clear... We already got plans for the months to come, so it won't be for the near future. Renaming Journeys to Routines is something separate that I'd like to take care of soon though.

Louis Deveseleer sounds good. Thanks for the information. I know you are prioritizing the best upgrades!

Or maybe categorization?
For example, for me, due to different setups I have injury-recovery journeys that are in A/B split so that's 2 journeys and since I'm now working on my shoulder and knee that's 4 journeys a/b just for injury. Then there's training plans I want to get back to once I'm done with injury and it's 3-day split mixed with stretching split... Currently my journeys list is a mess due to that and I think categorization would really help.
