Health data import
in progress
Louis Deveseleer
Currently, Calistree onlys WRITES to Health connect / Apple Health.
READING (automatic imports) would have several applications:
- Read information about workouts done with other apps and add them to Calistree. This would probably mostly apply to cardio activities such as running or cycling.
- Read weight and heigh data and sync that with the data contained in Calistree.

Read weight updates from health connect

Instead of updating it manually every time I weigh.it would be nice if it's automatic since my renpho scale writes data on health connect after weighing. For example samsung health and eatthismuch apps automatically update the weight.

I look forward to it, I often bike and run not to see that in Calistree is damaging. We could use the type of activity (running, cycling, strength, etc.) of the health APIs to determine points in the app.

Sounds good, if you implement the import, i guess you would still need to add the cardio training as exercises, right?
Louis Deveseleer
Gerard van Papendrecht: Yes indeed. And I think that steady-state cardio exercises will need to be added first, and then we can look into reading workouts logged by other apps and converting those into cardio sessions in Calistree, to be able to take them into account in your Experience profile (and by extension, muscle fatigue).

Louis Deveseleer I know this is still in the future, but I’m currently tracking my Calistree workouts with my watch (including cardio), so I start a workout on my watch when I’m doing my Calistree exercises.
Would the import be able to ignore workouts from third-party apps if they overlap with a Calistree workout regarding time (to avoid statistics counting the exercise twice).
Edit: maybe not ignore completely if heart rate sensor data was available (if that would make fatigue stats more accurate). I just saw this request which I also like: https://feedback.calistree.com/requests/p/heart-rate-sensor-support

rikbruil We're working on this feature right now, and what Calistree will import are Workouts, Height and Weight data from Health. We're not planning to use heart rate data yet.
What are you tracking with your watch exactly? Does it register as a workout/exercise in Health connect/Apple health, or just calories and heart rate?
If a workout is logged through two different tools, I think it'll be challenging to avoid the duplication: which of the two tools would be responsible for checking the data available to avoid duplication? And what if the Calistree workout finishes a few seconds before the other tool exports its data to Health - in that case, Calistree will have no knowledge of the workout when it's time to export it.

Louis Deveseleer I start a functional training or flexibility workout (depending on my goals that day for Calistree) on my Apple Watch when I start a Calistree workout, mostly due to the heart rate and calories used (so I also don’t let Calistree write workouts, given the calories used from my Apple Watch seem to be more accurate than Calistree’s estimation which is usually half of what my watch estimates).
That’s why I thought if Calistree would be able to record heart rate from my watch and use that as well for calory estimation, I would not need to start a workout through the third party app in this case (given Calistrees estimation would be more accurate then I assume). Then I could let Calistree write the workouts instead of recording them separately.
