Generate Journey and hypertrophy vs. endurance
complete
Sloelk
Hi there,
When I‘m generating journeys, I often get exercises with 5-10 rep range. This also appears the most of the time, when I choose endurance for intensity. I‘m expecting more reps and easier variations for the exercise, when I‘m choose endurance and more difficult and lower reps exercises when I choose hypertrophic.
It ist not clear for me how it works at the moment.
Kind regards

Hello, the "endurance/intensity" slider generates substantially different workouts once your general estimated strength level is sufficientlly high (Novice or Intermediate). At this point, you should start seeing higher reps and hold times when you generate a workout with the endurance option. If you haven't logged many workouts yet, your estimated level is probably still on the low side (see Analytics page).
Please let me know if that fits with your strength/history profile.

Hi Louis Deveseleer,
Thank you for your reply. Ok, this wasn’t clear to me. I‘m working up to novice at the moment and I‘m oscillating between beginner and novice for strength in the App.
I just expected more reps for the exercises before they switch to a harder variant.
So I can expect higher reps from lvl 2 novice exercises? Or when I hit lvl 2 exercises, will I see more lvl 1 beginner exercises appear with higher reps?

Sloelk Sorry about the lack of clarity, that is not explained in the app actually, so I'll add a note there.
The thing is, if your level is close to the minimum level available, only the easiest exercises are available, so the endurance/intensity slider cannot make any difference: any exercise selected will be of a similar difficulty level.
Once your level increases, selecting "endurance" will select easier exercises, which will lead to higher initial suggestions for the number of reps. Note that those numbers are only suggestions, based on your estimated level, and you can always adapt them based on your real abilities.
About the fact that you expected more reps before switching to another variant: we actually plan on adjusting the mastery requirement of some exercises, I think that will help: https://feedback.calistree.com/requests/p/mastery-levels-adapt-values-to-specific-exercises
Please let me know if that helps and if you have any other questions!

Louis Deveseleer,
ok, that makes sense. I will then wait for more exercises and maybe the change in mastery levels.
Many thanks for this super app and support

Sloelk Thanks, please don't hesitate to update me in a few weeks/months, with your progress and how well the app adapts to it!
